Salvecchio

<<One of the most beautiful spots in Italy, one of the many little surprises and joys for which it is worth travelling>> Herman Hesse, 1913

Fallen into disuse since the ‘70s, the former Palazzo Terzi-Quattrini is a historical building in the center of the Higher City, now seat of the Rectorate and some University offices.

The building also hosts some lecture rooms of the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures.

Moving to and within Bergamo city:

Please note that Bergamo has a lower city ("Città Bassa" or "Bergamo Bassa") and a higher city ("Città Alta" or "Bergamo Alta"). The Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures is located in the Higher City.

1. From Milan Bergamo Orio al Serio airport to Bergamo city.

You can take bus no. 1 (ask the information office at the airport for the location of the bus stop), which will take you to the train station and to Porta Nuova, in the center of the Lower City. Some rides also go up to the Higher City (Colle Aperto). Alternatively, you can also take a taxi from the airport to anywhere in the Lower or Higher city (remember taxi rides in Italy are more expensive than in other European countries).

2. From Milano Linate airport to Bergamo city.

The Omio bus company runs buses every hour 24/24 from the airport to Bergamo's train station. Please check https://www.omio.it/autobus/aeroporto-milano-linate-lin/bergamo for more information. This is the fast option.

Another option is to take a bus from Linate airport to Milano Centrale train station, and then a train to Bergamo. This option implies a longer trip but is cheaper. For the Linate - Milano Centrale bus, check https://www.milano-aeroporti.it/linate-shuttle/en/index.html. You can check the train schedules on https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html.

3. From the train station to anywhere in the Lower City.

If your accommodation is in the Lower City, you can take several bus lines or a taxi to reach the area where it's located. Walking can also be an option, as many hotels are a few minutes walk from the station.

4. From the Lower City to the Higher City.

To reach your accommodation or the Faculty in the Higher City, you should take bus no. 1 (the same that goes from the airport to the Lower and Higher Cities). The main bus stops in the Lower City are in front of the train station and in Porta Nuova.

The Faculty is split into several locations in the Higher City. Below, we report the indications to reach the Salvecchio location.

How to reach Salvecchio:

The closest bus stop to Salvecchio is the last stop before the end of the line (i.e. the second last stop). It does not have a specific name, but you can tell the bus driver you want to go to Salvecchio and they should understand. Alternatively, you can get off at the end of the line and walk a few minutes more (the advantage is that, if you get off at this stop, you avoid the high rise that you'd meet if you got off at the previous stop). Below we report the route from both stops to the Salvecchio university offices.

If your accommodation is already in the Higher City, we recommend you to just walk to the venue.

The address of the Salvecchio Department offices is via Salvecchio 19, 24129 Bergamo.

From the second last stop (fermata 443) to the Salvecchio offices (you find detailed indications through this link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/gnLwzXjbUGdNPwn16)

From the end of the line (Colle Aperto) to the Salvecchio offices (you can find detailed indications through this link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/cfZSvt258hqeqf1s6)
